Craig Kilborn Sitcom Lands at ABC

Craig Kilborn Former Late Late Show host Craig Kilborn is plotting another return to television, this time starring in a sitcom that just landed a script order at ABC.In the untitled single-camera comedy, Kilborn would play an eccentric mystery writer "who has mastered the art of living," the network says. Kilborn's character finds his life turned upside down, however, when he meets his dream mate.Kilborn first signed a deal with ABC in May to develop a show; this is the direct result of that pact. He's writing and executive producing the project along with Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, whose credits include Outsourced, Spin City and George Lopez.The show would represent Kilborn's first-ever regular TV role as an actor. He has guested on a handful of shows, including an upcoming episode of Chuck, and has appeared in movies such as Old School.Kilborn spent five years as the host of CBS' Late Late Show; before that, he was the original host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show. Kilborn first came to national prominence as a wisecracking anchor on ESPN's SportsCenter.Most recently, in 2010 Kilborn hosted a short-lived daily chat show, The Kilborn File, on several Fox stations but it wasn't picked up for national distribution.Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!
